Bruny Island was first sighted by Abel Tasman in 1642, and named after Rear Admiral Bruni D'Entrecasteaux who visited in 1792-93. Bruny Island sits to the south of Hobart, and is accessed by a vehicular ferry which departs from Kettering (30 minutes south of Hobart). The scenic ferry ride takes approximately 15 minutes. From there, you can explore the many natural wonders that Bruny Island has to offer.
